Initial training is scheduled for 3-4 months at our headquarters in York, PA, and includes:
Paid round trip flights home during major United States holidays
Shared company vehicle

Working 1:1 with an experienced mentor

On your start date, you will be eligible for:
3 weeks of paid prorated vacation
2 personal days after 6 months
Company designated holidays
The Apprenticeship Program is certified and registered within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
At the time of graduation, successful candidates will receive:
Nationally recognized Journeymen's certification
Step increases to be given upon successful obtainment of:
Pre-determined goals plus
6 months of qualified time throughout the 4-year program
This is a non-exempt position so you will be eligible for overtime:
After 40 hours worked or as determined by the individual state you reside in

The Apprentice Program is the first step of your career and forms the foundation for your successful future.
The program is certified and registered within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and lasts 4 years with a combination of on-the-job experience and classroom-based instruction.
You will be employed by ENGEL and train to be an on-the-road Field Service Technician, which is a full-time traveling role (work from home + travel to customers around 80% of the time). You will learn the technical trade of assembly, on-site installation, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting for this very high-tech and in-demand machinery. This is a great opportunity for someone just starting their career or someone who already has strong electro-mechanical, automotive, or industrial maintenance experience and is looking for a new opportunity to grow. We will train you in this technical skill set that will serve as a launch into a rewarding career as a Field Service Technician. This is a high-travel position that will require on-the-road training and field service work across all of North America.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Trade schooling combined with 3-plus years of hands-on work experience with mechanical and electrical systems (car mechanic/repair, electrician work, etc.)
Any experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, or automation is a plus.
Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time (initial training is 3-4 months in York, PA).
All travel will be within North America. In the future, however, travel to Europe could occasionally be required.
Strong communication skills: our Field Service Technicians help train and instruct our customers and represent our brand.
Collaborative attitude, self-starter, with a passion for learning.

You will be employed by ENGEL and train to be a Mechatronics Technician with a focus on automation and robotics. You will learn the start-up of automation cells containing various combinations of linear, SCARA, and 6-axis robots, bowl feeders, drawer systems, conveyors, machine guarding & safety systems, as well as other custom automation equipment delivered to our customers.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Install, troubleshoot, and start-up of industrial automation hardware and software
What you will work on:
Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), control system processors, industrial instrumentation, control system analog & digital I/O, control system networks (EtherCAT, Ethernet, Profinet)
Graphical & ladder logic programming code for the sequencing of robots
Reading / interpreting mechanical assembly drawings, pneumatic and electrical schematics
Basic troubleshooting of equipment and systems
Set parameter, position, and sequence for the entire production cell
Install or remove optional equipment & features on the various types of robots ENGEL provides to its customers
Installation and proofing of safety systems
Prepare automation equipment for shipping
