Preventive maintenance ensures the reliable functioning and safety of plants. When implemented correctly, this maintenance strategy minimises the need for reactive maintenance and optimizes operating processes.

Why is preventive maintenance important?

#1: Protection for people & equipment

An important goal of our customers is to ensure the safety and smooth operation of production in their companies. To minimize the risk and severity of accidents or machine breakdowns, the regular evaluation of all safety measures is essential as part of preventive maintenance.

This safety check is the first and most important reason to opt for preventive maintenance.

#2: Lower total cost of ownership

Do you wish your manufacturing equipment would produce trouble-free for as long as possible? Preventive measures as part of preventive maintenance delay wear, increase functionality and extend machine service life. With predictive planning, operating costs can be reduced as well.

#3: Reliable performance

Equipment that is regularly maintained runs more reliably. We recommend the professional inspection of your machines by qualified specialists at least once a year.  Regular preventive maintenance reduces the strain on your equipment, decreases the risk of process breakdowns and thus increases productivity. It includes the planned replacement of wear components within a scheduled outage. This reduces downtime compared to emergency repairs.

#4: Compliance with legal requirements

Neglecting to perform certain maintenance procedures at specified intervals, such as periodic hose replacements or electrical certifications, can increase the risk of accidents on the shop floor. To avoid the risk of an accident or liability, we recommend systematically replacing certain components that have exceeded the manufacturer's specified service life.

Another reason to choose preventive maintenance is to avoid liability by performing proper maintenance at regular intervals.

The most important influence on efficiency and reliability is undoubtedly well-maintained equipment. Having experienced service specialists perform preventive maintenance on your machinery enables you to avoid unexpected downtime and keep your machines in perfect shape. This extends their value and lifetime significantly.

#5: Energy efficiency

According to studies, regularly maintained equipment is more energy efficient. Over time, normal wear causes stress on the components. This leads to increasing energy need of the machine. Preventive maintenance can reduce wear on components, resulting in lower energy consumption during operation.

#6: Improve spare parts management

In some cases, spare parts account for half of the total maintenance costs. A further important reason to switch from reactive to preventive maintenance is the chance to minimize the frequency of failures in complex parts and systems.

#7: Records

All system repairs, maintenance, spare parts, and services should be kept on record and up to date so that you have access to a complete documentation of the service history of your machines. As part of preventive maintenance, all work performed on your injection molding machine is recorded in the logbooks.

Did these reasons convince you?

Then opt for preventive maintenance!
